Expansion!

Another shoot around tonight, and my, oh, my did we have a great session. There were a total of 24 kids ranging in age groups from 2nd grade all they way up to 7th grade. This was an increase of about 8 kids from our last shoot around. We did some conditioning type of things to get ourselves ready for the season. We will probably be meeting one or two more times as a big group and then splitting up into individual teams so that we can get started. I am very excited about the potential of our new 3rd graders this year. They are really getting ready to play. It was nice to see some members of the 4th grade group of players show up and join us. Everyone seemed to have a good time, while still doing some organized drills to get the boys ready for their season. Next week, I think we'll let them "play" a little more so that we can see who can get up and down the floor and run. Should be fun. I'll see you all next week!

Getting Ready for a New Season!!!

Tonight, we had our first shoot around of the new season. Our new 3rd graders came to shoot in the gym with our 6th grade group. It is great to be back in the gym after a long football season. Our first session was a relaxing shoot around with both groups meeting some of their new players and their "WCS Family" for the first time. Seeing the fresh faces of our new 3rd grade team gets me excited about playing and excited about the potential of all our young players. It was very pleasing to see the 6th graders already to get after it this season. I'm looking forward to seeing how much they have improved from last winter. All players seemed to have grown into themselves a little and it should be fun to see how much more they grow over the year.
The 7th graders will be starting up in a few weeks. They are going to play in their first tournament in the middle of November.
We have a couple more weeks of football to go and a week of rest and then it's time to hit the hardwood.
