Here it is folks, the start of a new basketball season. We've already began to make waves across the state. The 4th graders went to Hillsboro last weekend and tore up the competition and easily captured a gold medal. They won each of their games by 15 points or more! Nice job 4th grade. That makes two years in a row that a WCS team has won a gold medal at the Hillsboro tournament. This next weekend could be very interesting because 4th and 7th graders both travel to Hays to play in a tournament.
For the 7th graders, it will be their first tournament of the new season, and I'm interested to see how we will play considering we have some new members of the family. The other two teams (3rd and 6th grades) begin their season in two weeks, playing in the Central Booster Club tournament. Everyone has started their regular practice routines, as crazy as they may be, but it seems that we are all ready to get down to business.
A big CONGRATULATIONS! goes out to Brette Ulsaker, Christian's sister. She signed a letter of intent with the University of Utah this past week to go play basketball there next year. We wish her the best of luck!

Let the Countdown Begin
It is now officially 3 days until the 2005-06 season gets underway. All teams will begin having their normal practice schedules starting on November 8.
Jerseys, shooting shirts, bags, etc. have all been ordered and now it's time to get down to business. WCS 7th graders have only 2 weeks to prepare for their first tournament in which they will be traveling to Hays. It has been a few years since we last went to Hays to play. It should be fun to see how we begin the new season.
The 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade teams will start their season at the Central Booster Club tournament, the first weekend in December. I can't wait to see how all four teams fare in the tournament, even though the 3rd and 4th graders may possibly end up playing each other. I hope that the different age levels stick around to watch each other's games. It could be pretty loud in there with everyone cheering, "D-Up, D-Up, D-Up!"
